IT has nearly been four years since Sunflower Bean released their second album ‘Twentytwo in Blue’. However, fans will be pleased to know they’ve not got long to wait until its follow-up arrives – the band have revealed that ‘Headful of Sugar’ will be out on 6th May.

Along with the announcement, they’ve shared a lead single called ‘Who Put You Up To This?’. Known for their retro-rock influences, the song is locked into a tight, slinky groove at the hands of vocalist/bassist Julia Cumming while her ethereal vocals glide over the seventies-inspired instrumental.

“Are you satisfied? Who put you up to do things that you do? Was it your own choice? Questioning your life is the first step to taking the agency to change it,” they said of the track. “Sometimes you have to let go of who you have been so that you can become who you want to be”

Speaking of the album, they said “We wanted to write about the lived experience of late capitalism, how it feels everyday, the mundanity of not knowing where every construct is supposed to ultimately lead you. The message is in the title: This is about fast pleasures, the sugar of life, the joy that comes with letting go of everything you thought mattered.”
