13012809_1693582550921994_4662896613945161452_nGLASGOW’S guitar-infused indie synth pop five-piece Team Player have returned with their new single ‘Better You Know’ and a pretty bizarre video to boot.

The shoot features guitarist Chris Kerr quizzed by a suspicious partner regarding his whereabouts and spending: “Is it another woman? Is it drugs? Booze? Casinos?” Turns out her suggestions could not be wider from the mark, as Chris is revealed to show his affection for an oversized hotdog; caressing the thing before taking to the sky in flight on it. At her wit’s end, things only begin to add up for his girlfriend when she uncovers a bottle of ketchup while raking through his pockets. We’ve all been there…

Nonetheless, the Milennial domestic and aviation affair with enlarged fast food fails to tell the whole story of what is otherwise a very summertime-friendly dancy electro/pop number. Accompanying the song itself with the video makes for rather humorous viewing, with the lyrics entwining with the visuals to good effect – however intentional. There is all the conventional elements of a solid alternative track here, but there’s enough going on in the instrumentals to add a feelgood factor to it all and prevent it from placing itself atop the indie abyss with its counterparts. To add to it all, you get the impression that this would go down a storm on the live stage.

The single launch of ‘Better You Know’ will take place at Classic Grand on 6th May, with tickets going fast. You can download the track on iTunes now.
