SET to leave an indelible mark on TRNSMT Festival this Saturday, The Big Day are shaping up for one of their biggest shows to date with the release of new single ‘Born Killer’.
Since arriving fully formed with the instantly addictive ‘Fashion Statement’ last year, the quartet have had us enthralled with each release and live show to date – launching themselves forwards with a very firm idea of who they are and where they want to go.
This unwavering ambition and burning momentum carries through on their latest track ‘Born Killer’ – a track that lives up to its name and more, scything away with hook after hook, and a twisting, turning instrumental.
And while ‘Fashion Statement’ and ‘Bad Things’ were full of pomp and vibrancy, ‘Born Killer’ shows darker undertones – telling the fictional story of a character with two personalities – one of which is a murderous psychopath. The drama is matched by an equally theatrical and ambitious instrumental that shows the band pushing the parameters of their sound once again – adding dance elements to their indie-pop mix. Of course, the band still know their way around a catchy hook – with frontman Ryan Hunter not holding back on the stadium-ready choruses.
Another huge release from the band, it’s sure to go down a storm this weekend when they take on the River Stage on Saturday afternoon at TRNSMT.
Can’t wait till then? The band play the TRNSMT pre-party at King Tuts tonight alongside SLIX and Uninvited. Tickets here.
