The Band: The View rose out of Dundee back in 2007 and were second only to Franz Ferdinand in terms of popular Scottish indie-rock bands from that decade, with debut Hats Off to the Buskers topping the UK album charts and since then going on to release another three records. The band are now preparing their latest effort, with iconic guitarist of The Strokes, Albert Hammond Jr. offering production.

The Sound: The Scottish four-piece have announced new song ‘Marriage’, taken from the band’s yet to be named fifth album. The title might suggest a coming of age for the boys, and the sound does too; with it being slightly less energetic than their listeners are used to. However the song still packs a punch as it settles into the verse, with the bass bouncing around Kyle Falconer’s lyrics, offering similarities to the opening of 2011 indie super-hit ‘Pumped up Kicks’. The chorus then dances in, pulling away from this and revealing the infectious, yet laid back, hook.

The Lowdown: The View will tour the UK in March and April including shows at Glasgow’s Barrowlands and London’s KOKO. See all tour dates below.
