KNOWN
for their sparse yet sensual compositions, the London based trio known as The XX are among the most important bands to have made their way into our hearts and minds since the dawn of the new millennium,

On hiatus since the release of the beautiful Coexist back in 2012, many had feared that we’d never see the band drop another full length project after such widespread inactivity and producer Jamie focusing on his solo career.

Now those fears have been dispelled by the release of ‘On Hold’, the first track to be taken from their newly announced third full length ‘On Hold.’

Re-indoctrinating fans back into their shadowy world with an atmospheric opening section, the more dance-based textures of Jamie’s recent work fuses wonderfully with Romy and Olivier’s immediately recognisable vocals. Clearly inspired by the direction of his album In Colour, this new direction is one that is not without subtlety but is more outward in its intentions. Featuring a warped sample of Hall and Oates’ ‘I Can’t Go For That (No Can Do)’, it’s an unexpected path for the band but one which most certainly causes intrigue.

I See You will be released on the 13th January via Young Turks.
