Ben Walker ‘Ronseal’

Hitting up the River Stage this weekend at TRNSMT Festival, Ben Walker is preparing for the occasion with the release of his new single ‘Ronseal’. Once again showcasing his knack for crafting catchy indie tunes that are full of heart, it’s a soaring guitar-driven number that’s sure to go down a storm at Glasgow Green.

DAN SOUTH ‘GLORY’

Kicking off TRNSMT today at the Boogie Bar, seasoned Glasgow producer and DJ DAN SOUTH has dropped a new banger called ‘GLORY’. Following on from the invigorating ‘RISE’, the new track features fellow Glasgow artists Connaire McCann (known as consumer) on lead vocals, synths and instrumentation – his lyrics delivered over a punchy, distorted backdrop that once again straddles the worlds rock & roll and dance. A thematic continuation of his previous track, there’s a bubbling sense of defiance as they reflect on the war on the working classes, using a sample from Glasgow trader worker Jimmy Reid to hammer home their message.

Majesty Palm ‘The Longer I Hold You’

Set to make their TRNSMT debut this weekend, Majesty Palm unveiled ‘The Longer I Hold You’ last weekend. Opening over a gentle drum beat that fades in and Olivia McCosh’s dreamy vocals, it doesn’t take long for the track to open up into a punchy pop chorus – instantly addictive and swathed in a glimmer of synths.

Hamish Hawk ‘Men Like Wire’

With his new album ‘A Firmer Hand’ set to land on 16th August, Hamish Hawk has unveiled the anthemic ‘Men Like Wire’. The track backs into his previous song ‘Bakerloo, Unbecoming’ as he offers an exploration of masculinity against circling guitar lines and powerful, robust choruses. In “Bakerloo, Unbecoming”, I wrote “essentially it comes down [again] to the limitless mysteries of other men”. “Men Like Wire” is a deeper excavation of that idea. In short, it’s about men. Men I have and haven’t known, men I’ve seen, heard, loved and lost. Men I’ve been seated next to at weddings, bus stops and dinner parties, on trains, beds and park benches. They’re all in there, for better, for worse.”

Quinny ‘Settlers’

Paisley-born musician Quinny has shared a new single ‘Settlers’. Co-written with Marie Collins (The Vegan Leather) and Hannah Daman, Quinny has taken its acoustic origins and expanded it with the kind of choral vocal harmonies Fleet Foxes would be proud of, a gorgeous piano melody and powerful guitars. Elevating the track without ever losing the emotional heart of its original (which has also been released alongside it), it’s a gentle, warming listen that pulls on the heartstrings.

Wunderhorse ‘Silver’

Set to play TRNSMT Festival today, Wunderhorse have shared ‘Silver’ from their upcoming album ‘Midas’. A track that almost didn’t make the cut, it’s one of their most honest and vulnerable songs to date – honing in on personal identity, how you view yourself and present yourself to others. Shining a light on Jacob Slater’s wistful, raspy vocal performance, he said: “The song is about that ugly side of yourself that you try to keep a secret, but you know it’s there because it makes your skin crawl sometimes. It gets you places but fucks you up in the process. Everyone has elements of their makeup that they’d rather not admit to or keep locked away and never look at. That’s what ‘Silver’ is about. Kind of.”

Confidence Man, IN2STELLAR ‘BREAK IT DOWN (ON THE BASSLINE)’

After a riotous Glastonbury set two weeks ago, Confidence Man have team up with fellow Aussie party-starters IN2STELLAR for a new banger. ‘BREAK IT DOWN (ON THE BASSLINE) is a complete party tune – hypnotic and unpretentious. Break It Down (On The Bassline)” comes from a newly announced Fabric Presents… mix. About it, Confidence Man said, “The mix was a bunch of songs that we’ve been playing at parties and dj sets etc combined with a bunch of older tunes we’ve loved for ages. Also a bunch of tunes sent thru from friends we also dig. We’re trying to make something we’d love to dance to.”
