REINFORCING their place amidst the modern music industry’s biggest cult heroes, Chicago’s Twin Peaks sent shockwaves through the world’s blogs and fans alike with the announcement of their upcoming album Down In Heaven.
Shaping up to be another much loved collection of innovative garage rock in the vein of albums such as Sunken and Wild Onion, the band have unveiled the lively ‘Butterfly’, the second single to be taken from their forthcoming new record and an outstanding one at that.
Inspired by a particularly busy and raucous trip to SXSW last year, ‘Butterfly’ captures the unmistakable energy which has became a cornerstone of their material alongside a healthy dose of frenetic rock ‘n’ roll that recalls acts such as The Modern Lovers, London Cowboys and The New York Dolls. Despite being steeped in the lineage of such acts, the track is also indicative of all that makes the band so special due to its utilisation of charmingly poppy vocals, stylistically chaotic guitar and the kind of rambunctiousness that can’t help but appeal to those who feel that rock ‘n’ roll’s sense of fun has been lost in a sea of banality.
Down In Heaven will be released on the 13th May with the band playing Glasgow’s Stereo on the 16th April 2016.
