FOLLOWING the release of their striking debut single ‘Malleable Soul’, Glasgow-based outfit Vanderlye have shared a new offering called ‘Guilty Lovers & Heartbreak Serenades’.

While that first song was all about forceful punk rock, this new single showcases a different side to the outfit as they dip into the world of cinematic indie-rock. There’s a wistful feel to the track which reflects the heartfelt lyrical content – singer Sean McGarvey explores feelings of self-doubt and uncertainty over a soaring nineties-inspired indie backdrop.

Bright guitar tones and shoegazy textures add to the warming feel of the track, as it sees itself out in an instrumental burst of catharsis – indicating an uplifting sense of self-acceptance.

Lead singer Sean says: “Musically, we wanted to use bright guitars and different textures to really create an uplifting atmosphere. Lyrically, this track is about the importance of self love and acceptance. At the time of writing the track, I was going through a phase of being overwhelmed and consumed by my own self doubt. Self doubt is a difficult emotion to deal with and is something I still struggle with daily. I guess songwriting is a very therapeutic way for me to express the emotions that I find difficult to talk to people about. I feel like the instrumental finale section of the track is an outpouring and release of all the emotions we wanted to capture in the defiant message of the song.  It really took on a whole new light once we were in the studio. Jamie Holmes is a really talented producer and he had heaps of great ideas which really moved the creative process along.”
