WALT DISCO have returned with a gripping new single called ‘Macilent’.
Following on from the thundering, highly emotive ‘Selfish Lover’ and ‘Weightless’ earlier this year, the six-piece are once again in rapturous form. This time they twist and scythe through an onslaught of barbed electric guitars, clattering drums and almost pained vocals from James Potter.
Lead vocalist and songwriter James Potter says: “Macilent was written with Jessica Winter in August the day after the 3 trans women were attacked in Hollywood. All we could think about that day was the violence that trans and queer people face everyday. We wanted the song to convey the fear that we feel, the disgust, the exhaustion, but also the fading hope that it doesn’t have to be the way things are “We could be together, if you weren’t so violent.“We’ve been around forever” is almost a war-cry exclaiming that queer people and gender identities have always existed outside the binary.”
A thunderous and dramatic glam-rock concoction, it comes with a brand new video directed by Eric Liddle and Kasparas Vidunas which you can see below.
Walt Disco also recently announced a UK and European tour for 2022, which includes a date at Glasgow’s Saint Luke’s on 30th March.
