ZUZU reflects on the ways life can conspire against you on her aptly named new song ‘Timing’.

Already a member of Tenement Trail’s sparkling alumni, the Liverpudlian has drawn a lot of attention in recent months from music outlets, national newspapers and even Radio 1.

Known for covering a wide range of subjects in her songwriting from alien abduction to comic books to messed up relationships, this latest offering is very relatable in that it finds her reflecting on what could have been.

With her thick Liverpudlian accent brought to the forefront, it’s a soaring slice of indie-pop – all twinkling synths and fuzzed up guitars with a belter of a chorus thrown in the mix.

She says “This song is about what could have been – meeting someone you have an instant connection with but the timing was never right. It’s about those lonely late nights / early mornings when the sun is rising and that person creeps into your mind. You wonder where they are, if they’re thinking of you too. I wanted to capture the nostalgic but also melancholy feeling brought on by those sad longing thoughts for somebody you loved.”
