GORILLAZ leader and britpop icon Damon Albarn has claimed that the band’s new album is complete.

Somewhat offhandedly disclosed in a conversation with a fan named Jack Winstanley that he’d met outside of a gig venue, the man behind the heralded animated band stated that he’d ‘bought a new hat’ for the Gorillaz tour and that work on their first record since 2011’s The Fall was completely finished.

With the information compiled in a series of tweets from Winstanley, no official confirmation of the long awaited album’s release date has materialised as of yet.

After a lengthy hiatus, Gorillaz returned in the wake of Donald Trump’s return with the politically charged ‘Hallelujah Money’ featuring the vocals of Mercury Prize winner Benjamin Clementine.

Other rumoured collaborators that are thought to appear on the new album include SAVEMONEY collective MC Vic Mensa, Snoop Dogg and frequent guests De La Soul.
