THE legendary Iggy Pop has candidly revealed that he believes his new record to be the last of his career.

Speaking in a promotional interview for his upcoming Post Pop Depression LP (recorded alongside Queens Of The Stone Age’s Josh Homme, Arctic Monkeys’ Matt Helders and The Dead Weather’s Dean Fertita, the proto punk innovator claimed that:

“I feel like I’m closing up after this. That’s what I feel, it’s my gut instinct.”

Despite the claim that this record is likely to mark his final foray into full length studio projects, Pop suggests that it’s not the end of his musical endeavours and stated that “No. If you call me and you want to work out a deal to come and sing ‘Happy Birthday’ at your mother’s, something like that I’ll refer you to someone. But to really make a real album you really have to put everything into it and the energy’s more limited now.”

With his forthcoming record shaping up to be a return to the era defining sound of The Idiot from the two spectacular tracks that have already revealed, perhaps it’ll serve as a fitting swansong for the iconic frontman.
