crx-press-shotSET to release their debut album New Skin this coming Friday (28th October), CRX have cranked up the levels of anticipation by dropping one of its featured tracks ‘Broken Bones’.

Fronted by The Strokes’guitarist Nick Valensi, the band look set to join the impressive list of side-projects to emerge from the legendary New York outfit in recent years; displaying a heavier sound than we are perhaps used to thanks to the production from Josh Homme. Following on from the familiar yet poppier sounds of ‘Ways To Fake It’, Homme makes his influence known on this latest offering with its stomping rhythms and a grumbling bassline creating a dark sense of foreboding before exploding with power chords and cymbal-bashing. Alluring vocals and sharp electric guitar licks make themselves known on a hypnotic chorus; the rhythmic structure of the track pairing wonderfully with the piercing quality of the songwriting. It’s like controlled chaos; forcing itself into your consciousness in expert fashion.

If this latest offering is anything to go by, then we are definitely in for something special at the end of the week.
