BOLD, passionate and utterly incendiary; Declan Welsh has remained entirely unfazed in his quest to use his music as a formidable tool for social empowerment. Fuelled by the morally corrupt evils which currently plague our society, the singer-songwriter has quickly established himself as one of the most socially conscious and enigmatic frontmen to emerge from the Glasgow music scene in some time.

Continuously winning new fans up and down the country with his fiery passion and thrilling live performances, Welsh and his band the Decadent West are now looking to build on a prosperous few months with the release of a new double A-side single ‘Mirrors/No Pasaran’.

‘Mirrors’, the newest track on display, introduces us to a more considered side of the outfit with Welsh delivering an alluring vocal over  dominant rhythms and entrancing melodies. Becoming increasingly intense as it progresses, there’s an underlying darkness to the song which powerfully unleashes itself as the band rush to an electrifying finale. A slow-burning alternative to the single’s incendiary counterpart, ‘Mirrors’ is a deeply stirring affair which conveys the band’s self-assured and increasingly accomplished approach to their craft.

The new track is accompanied by a fresh recording of the band’s signature track ‘No Pasaran’. Every bit as bold and striking as it was six months ago, the track finds Welsh at his most incensed as he spits out its fiery lyrics in a punk-fuelled rage. Punchy, provocative and unforgettable, Welsh once again pulls no punches in his fight against fascism and intolerance; a call-to-arms that cannot be ignored.

Having already made a significant impression at XPO North, Northern Roots and Solas Festivals this summer, Declan Welsh & the Decadent West have an exciting few weeks head with a headline appearance at King Tut’s Summer Nights on Friday 14th July and a highly anticipated slot on the Tenement TV Discover Stage at Electric Fields.
