BORN and bred right here in Glasgow, you’d be forgiven for thinking that the quintet known as The Nickajack Men had found each other in the depths of the deep south. Proponents of a sound that shares DNA traits with a lineage that can be traced all the way to the delta blues yet with a formidable, alt-rock foundation, their material is custom-made to bellow out from massive PA’s in the nation’s most revered venues.

Fortuitously enough, that’s exactly what will occur in little more than 24 hours when the band stride onto the stage at Glasgow’s 02 ABC at this year’s Tenement Trail. Saddled with the task of opening the biggest venue of the festival, The Nickajack Men are precisely the sort of emboldened musicians that wouldn’t see it as a daunting task but an opportunity to be relished.

Ahead of their hotly anticipated performance at this year’s festival, TTV are delighted to bring you the first listen of their brand new single ‘Can’t Take It Anymore.’

Pulse-racing Americana that attests to their pedigree as songwriters, their latest effort sees the band continue to diversify and stray into the realm of bands such as Dawes, White Denim, The Walkmen and The Weeks. A riveting exploration of a human psyche that has been battered and scarred set against a fusion of stadium-sized guitars and ever intensifying rhythms, it is made all the more gripping by the guttural and stirring drawl of frontman Lewis White.

Providing further insight into the track’s origins, White has stated that “It’s a song about struggling to deal with a lot of issues going on. Being stuck feeling like you have no real direction in what you’re actually doing day to day. It’s good to have an outlet like music where we can put our depressing thoughts across in a weird semi-happy sounding song.”

The Nickajack Men will take to the TT17 stage at 7:15pm in the 02 ABC1 ahead of sets from Louis Berry and our headliners The Temperance Movement. Tickets for this year’s Tenement Trail are available here.
