Lovebox-Festival-2013THE sun is hiding behind clouds in London, but with the guarantee of sunshine for the second day of Lovebox Festival this weekend tickets are flying out the door. Victoria Park will be dressed in colour with a sensational line-up set to make this year’s festival one to remember.

Taking place over Friday 17th and Saturday 18th July, here’s our top picks of acts not to miss over the weekend.

CYPRESS HIL

Taking to the stage on the opening day of the festival, one of hip hop’s most influential and distinctive groups Cypress Hill will bring their unique West Coast rap to London. Formed in 1988, B-Real, DJ Muggs, Sen Dog and Eric Bobo were amongst the forefathers of the 90s rap movement.

RUDIMENTAL

Would it be a festival without the Rudimental crew? We’re not so sure. Touring around the globe for three years now, this crew are guaranteed to get the crowd going in mass sing-a-long moments with their truly epic stage presence. Fresh from a performance at T in the Park in Scotland last weekend, Rudimental are one of the must see acts on Friday.

ACTION BRONSON

If there was one sole reason why to buy a Friday ticket to this year’s event, Action Bronson is it! Set to grace the BBC 1 Xtra stage, the Queens native is one of the fastest-rising names in hip-hop. Over the past few years, the ex-chef has become one of hip-hop’s most charismatic and colorful new characters, thanks to his witty, instantly quotable lyricism and a slew of impressive releases.

SNOOP DOGG

Taking the crown for the top act to see on Saturday, has to be Snoop Dogg. No stranger to a festival crowd, the forefather of hip-hop is sure to drop the celebrated tracks from his extensive back catalogue dating over two decades. And with the sun set to fill the sky, we’re predicting the top moment of the weekend during any of of Snoop’s glorious tunes.

HOT CHIP

Another act riding high from celebrated festival performances are Hot Chip – their Glastonbury and T in the Park sets were a force to be reckoned with. Returning to venues around the country earlier this year, Hot Chip’s new material is something to get excited about and there’s the small matter of epic tunes from their immensely popular 2007 record including the likes of ‘One Night Stand’ and ‘Over and Over’.

RAG ‘N’ BONE MAN

Drawing influence and inspiration from jazz, soul, folk, pop, hip hop, electronic and more, Rag ’N’ Bone Man has built up a name for himself on the underground circuit as a truly innovative and unique artist. Prepare to be blown away by this male version of Adele. A spin chilling vocal and enough swag to really get the Lovebox crowd going.
