THE team behind the world renowned Edinburgh International Festival has announced ‘Deep Time’, a new digital artwork which will be soundtracked by the catalogue of Glasgow’s own Mogwai.
An ambitious project which would’ve previously been inconceivable due to technical restraints, it will be helmed by 59 productions and is set to be one of the most visually captivating pieces of this year’s festivities.
Projecting images onto the side of Edinburgh Castle and the corresponding Castle Rock, they aim to provide a ‘350 million year history of Edinburgh’ beginning right from the ‘cataclysmic’ events which brought it into being.
Speaking in regards to Mogwai’s involvement, 59 Productions’ Leo Warner has claimed that they will ‘work with the band to create a high-octane 15 minute soundtrack’ which may feature both previously released and newly composed music from the post rock icons.
The first batch of free tickets for this sough after event will be made available on the 11th July via the EIF’s official site, while Mogwai are also set to perform their recent album ‘Atomic’ at the Edinburgh Playhouse on the 28th & 29th August.
