MAC DEMARCO has announced details of an extensive tour in spring which will include a date at Edinburgh’s Usher Hall on 30th August.

The news comes with the announcement of a brand new album titled This Old Dog, due for release on 5th May, alongside two of its featured tracks. It will be the lo-fi rocker’s first full LP since 2014’s Salad Days and the follow-up to 2015’s mini-album Another One.

Moving from Queens, New York to Los Angeles to work on the new record, This Old Dog marks a change in DeMarco’s songwriting process. He said: “I demoed a full album, and as I was moving to the West Coast I thought I’d get to finishing it quick. But then I realized that moving to a new city, and starting a new life takes time. Usually I just write, record, and put it out; no problem. But this time, I wrote them and they sat. When that happens, you really get to know the songs. It was a different vibe”

“The majority of this album is acoustic guitar, synthesizer, some drum machine, and one song is electric guitar. So this is a new thing for me,” DeMarco added. “This is my acoustic album, but it’s not really an acoustic album at all. That’s just what it feels like, mostly. I’m Italian, so I guess this is an Italian rock record.”

The album will be supported by an extensive tour around Europe and the US, during which he will take in a number of festivals such as Coachella, Governers’ Ball and Sziget. With only a couple of dates planned for the UK, he will play Newcastle’s Academy on 29th August and Edinburgh’s Usher Hall on 30th August.
