massive_attack_press_2014_01MASSIVE ATTACK have aired previews of two brand new tracks via their innovative ‘Fantom’ app.

Described as a ‘sensory mixer’, the band are clearly in the midst of a productive period in their illustrious history as it has now been used to provide fans with ‘Come Near Me’ and ‘The Spoils’.

Whilst it remains unclear whether the newly unveiled songs were left on the cutting room floor from their recent Ritual Spirit EP remains unclear, their appearance on the trip-hop outfit’s recently unveiled app means that listeners can remix and remould the tracks with nothing more than their phone.

Allowing you to not only play the original recordings, the new invention enables listeners to create their own mixes via their smart phone. Robert ‘3D’ Del Naja outlined the process which allows an app to do so earlier this year, stating that Fantom is a “sensory music player that remixes and reforms songs uniquely using a variety of environmental variables including location, movement, time of day, heartbeat and the integral moving image camera.”

Having previously divulged mixes of the tracks that would eventually form Ritual Spirit on Fantom, it is expected the tracks will be available for general consumption in the near future.

Download the app for free now via the Itunes store to hear the tracks.
