RINGO STARR and Paul McCartney have recorded music together for the first time in seven years.

Starr took to Twitter to thank his former Beatles bandmate for joining him in the studio, saying:  “Thanks for coming over man and playing great bass. I love you man – peace and love.” It is thought that McCartney will make a guest appearance on Starr’s newest record, the follow-up to 2015’s Postcards from Paradise.

It is the first time since 2010 that the pair have collaborated in the studio, after McCartney played bass on Starr’s track Peace Dream, and contributed vocals to Walk With You on the drummer’s Y Not LP.

Starr also tweeted a photo of him, McCartney and Eagles guitarist Joe Walsh, Starr’s brother-in-law, from the same studio session. “And look out Joe W. came out to play what a day I’m having,” Starr wrote.

While the new record has been confirmed, a release date has yet to be scheduled.
