record store dAN institution within modern society, Record Store Day has announced its full comprehensive line up for the festivities on 18th April 2015.

Announced via XFM, the comprehensive list features everything from established acts spanning a myriad of genres to up and coming bands releasing new material in a variety of formats.

Whilst the full list is vast and can be viewed here, we’ve highlight some of the announcements which will make up some of the more sought after items of this year’s event:

Django Django- Beginning To Fade

With the music world clamouring to hear the fruits of their labour after a long hiatus and with their album not surfacing until May, Edinburgh’s Django Django have announced the release of new track ‘Beginning To Fade’ on 7″.

Honeyblood- No Big Deal/The Black Cloud 7″

Having previewed ‘No Big Deal’ earlier in the month, the Glasgow two piece have set the music world abuzz with their latest composition, enabling their rawer side and bitterness to bubble to the surface. Now, they’ve agreed to release the track via limited edition vinyl for the special occasion.

Ryan Adams – Come Pick Me Up 

Arguably some his best work, ‘Come Pick Me’ is almost always included in Ryan Adams live sets and his RSD release will see two unreleased tracks — ‘Come Pick Me Up’ (alternate take) b/w ‘When The Rope Gets Tight’; from the forthcoming deluxe reissue of Heartbreaker (coming in late 2015).

Run The Jewels- Bust No Moves 12″

Undoubtedly the breakout hip hop act of 2014, The collaborative effort of Killer Mike and EL-P have returned an EP for RSD. Featuring one new composition in the shape of the title track, the vinyl will also include bonus material from previous releases such as ‘Pew Pew’ and ‘Blockbuster Night Part 2.’

Blackberry Smoke- Wood Wind And Roses EP

A brand new EP from one of the most exciting rock outfits to emerge from the south since its 70’s heyday, expect more immediate yet melodic compositions laden with outstanding guitar.

The Jesus And Mary Chain- ‘Pyschocandy Live At The Barrowlands.’

A seminal LP that is widely regarded as one of the finest to ever have been produced by a Scottish band, The Jesus And The Mary Chain have spent the bulk of the past few years playing ‘Pyschocandy’ in full. Naturally, the band have released a live recording of the iconic LP in its live pomp for Record Store Day.

Courtney Barnett – Kim’s Caravan 

Australian singer-songwriter and guitarist from Melbourne signed to the ‘Mom + Pop’ label, Courtney Barnett’s RSD issue will see a special release of Kims Caravan. The B-side of this 12″ is a cover of John Cale’s ‘Close Watch’ and is exclusive to this Record Store Day release.

David Bowie reissues

David Bowie has long been an advocate of Record Store Day, contributing several releases to the annual celebrations in the past. Due to the constant interest in his extensive and storied back catalogue, Bowie has enabled his classic track ‘Changes’ to be released via 7″ picture disc as well as a collection of his early output dating back to 1966.

Father John Misty- I Loved You Honeybear

Released on special heart shaped vinyl, Father John Misty’s contribution to record store day involves an acoustic version of his recent album’s title track and a new b-side entitled ‘Never Been A Woman.’

Vampire Weekend – Step

Currently on a bit of a hiatus – their social media has been quiet since November last year – Vampire Weekend will release Step on XL RECORDINGS. From the certified gold record Modern Vampires Of The City, Step includes a remix track featuring Danny Brown, Heems & Despot, plus an instrumental track. The release is pressed on white vinyl and limited to just 3,000 copies.

Elvis Presley- ‘My Happiness’

When Elvis’ first known recording was snapped up at an auction in January for the hefty sum of $300,000, a great deal of speculation abound as to who had purchased it. On Friday, the rumour mill grind to an abrupt halt with Jack White announcing that he will release the recording of ‘My Happiness’ for Record Store Day.

Johnny Marr- ‘I Feel You’ 7″

Having emerged as a live favourite during the final stages of his US tour, Johnny Marr will celebrate Record Store Day with his cover of Depeche Mode’s ‘I Feel You.’As an additional sweetener, fans of the guitarist’s legendary band The Smiths will be elated by the news that its b-side will come in the form of a live version of their classic ‘Please Please Let Me Get What I want.’

Ghostface Killah and BadBadNotGood ‘Sour Soul (Instrumentals)’

When Ghostface Killah and BadBadNotGood’s collaborative record was announced, a great deal of  the excitement allotted to the album was in reference to the lavish productions that the Canadian jazz trio are known for. Therefore, it only makes sense that the album’s instrumentals have been released for RSD.
