what was a leg of the tour mere hours before their new album was released, The Libertines left fans in the dark last night failing to turn up to their Camden gig.

A homecoming show in Camden’s Electric Ballroom venue, it should have been a momentous occasion in London for both fans, the band and the ever colourful story of the Libertines. Instead support acts, including Glasgow’s Hector Bizerk, took to the stage leaving fans packed into the venue eagerly anticipating the band’s appearance on stage for over two hours.

Those who had clutched to the barriers since doors opening would wait four hours with no satisfaction. Other members of the band were seen backstage, whilst one Scottish fan posted on social media an image of Pete Doherty claiming he was in a pub.

The new album is out today and the band have cancelled their Manchester show this evening. What’s left is a dark hole in the 2015 story of the band that were, for many, a glimmering light for the noughties generation. A social media message has stated the band will reschedule both dates.
