A number of Scotland’s  top venues and promoters are seeking public support for a new initiative that will safeguard them against the threat of expensive legal battles or closure.

Known as ‘Agent Of Change’, a litany of the nation’s most high profile music organisations and institutions including Sub Club, DF Concerts & Events, SWG3 and the O2 ABC and Academy have voiced their desire for existing properties to be protected from developers in the same manner that it is enshrined into both English and Welsh law.

As evidenced by the closure of Edinburgh’s Electric Circus due to the expansion of a nearby gallery on Market Street, it is entirely possible that many of the nation’s other beloved music venues could fall victim to similar projects and the establishment of a new iniative in Scottish planning policy would prevent this from being the case.

In order to assist in bringing this precedent to the attention of the government, all that’s required of Scotland’s music fans is to email localgovernmentandcommunities@parliament.scot    and state that you’d wish to see them follow the UK governments lead and enact the Agent Of Change policy by Friday 2nd February.
