5e93e054ALBERT Hammond Jr has announced the release of his forthcoming solo album, the first full length entirely of his own since 2008.

Remaining relatively quiet from the perspective of his own personal career since the release of 2013’s well recieved AHJ ep, Hammond Jr has spent the majority of 2015 gearing up for The Strokes’ grueling summer tour schedule; including a hotly anticipated return to London in June.

However, it’d appear that despite all of the preparations, he’s found the time to write an album of his own original compositions entitled Momentary Masters; a record which is slated for release via Vagrant (notably not on Julian Casablancas’ Cult Records which distributed his previous solo work.)

In addition to this announcement, Hammond Jr has shared ‘Born Slippy’, the album’s opening track and one which is sure to entice those who’ve adored his output whether it be in The Strokes or branching out on his own.

The track features one of his trademark angular riffs and is aided by eccentric vocals that conjure up comparisons to David Byrne circa Talking Heads: 77 and Hunky Dory era Bowie. Enlisting a full band for this LP as opposed to the almost entirely self recorded approach of his most recent EP, they provide a robust sound that rivals many that have been together for decades.

Momentary Masters will be released on 31st July via Vagrant. Listen to the track below:
