image001THE past few years have been a veritable rollercoaster for Scotland’s own C Duncan, with his acclaim growing from that associated with a hot prospect to a fully fledged force in today’s musical world. Endorsements from people in high places and Mercury Prize nods alone would be enough to put a smile on anyone’s face but the fact that he’s doing so whilst making the music that he wants to make is truly admirable.

Taken from his sophomore effort ‘The Midnight Sun,’ the multi-instrumentalist has released the new video for ‘Other Side’.

A sumptuous, piano-led affair which fizzles with delicate electronica, the track itself is a new stance on his trademark sound and expands his musical horizons to a new wave tinged place.

Speaking in reference to the video’s creation, Duncan stated that ‘ “Other Side is about taking yourself elsewhere to escape your troubles. I wanted the video to reflect that in a metaphorical rather than physical sense. Rondi Park, a Brighton based artist, often uses costume to embody an idea. I wanted her character in the video to experience escapism from the mundane reality she is familiar with by transforming herself into weird and wonderful entities.’

C Duncan will play Glasgow’s St Luke’s as part of Celtic Connections on Thursday 26th January.
