CAGE THE ELEPHANT channel Stanley Kubrick’s ‘A Clockwork Orange’ on their brand new video for ‘Cold Cold Cold’.
A creepy yet engrossing affair, the clip follows a straitjacketed man as he is subjected to a number of mysterious experiments in an asylum, such as strange drug injections, bizarre rituals and decapitation; all occurring as a masked crowd looks on.
Directed by the band’s very own Matt Schultz, the frontman said about the video’s dark themes: “I think we’re all very prone to subscribe to a safe, surface level pursuit of happiness, keeping our adversities out of sight out of mind, in a way. We try to fix ourselves to fit into the social norm, and it is so easy to forget that in one way or another, the broken-hearted are the beautiful ones.”
‘Cold Cold Cold’ is one of the highlights of the band’s 2015 critically acclaimed Tell Me Lies LP, nominated at this year’s Grammy’s for best rock album. They kick off their completely sold out UK tour next week, bringing their notorious live show to Glasgow’s ABC on Tuesday 17th January.
