COMMUNIONS have spoiled us with a string of EPs and singles over the past couple of years with each as good as the next. It therefore came as no surprise that the announcement of their debut album Blue, due out on 3rd February 2017, was met with a suitable amount of buzz and anticipation last month.

Having already shared the first single ‘Got To Be Free’, the Danish outfit have now unveiled the second track and album opener ‘Come On, I’m Waiting’. Equally brilliant and anthemic in style, it encapsulates everything we know and love about the indie-rockers; its irresistible guitar driven melodies, relentless power pop hooks and distinctively wistful vocals all anchored by an undeniably crisp songwriting ability. Perhaps more immediate than previous offerings thanks to its soaring chorus and driving guitars, there is still an underlying sensitivity and heartfelt sincerity running through Communions’ music that makes them such a compelling prospect.

Set to increase the levels of anticipation for the debut album, the two tracks we have heard so far convey a band who have spent time honing their sound while approaching their songwriting with a growing sense of maturity. ‘Come On, I’m Waiting’ is accompanied by a new video which sees the band perform in an dimly lit room while a man wanders around a desolate riverbank, perhaps to indicate the emotional nuance and sense of reflection in the song.
