COURTNEY Barnett first set up Milk! Records when she was just one of those underground stars, most probably not hopeful of becoming what she is now. Her debut album has topped several end of year lists, and the singer-songwriter is now nominated for a Grammy. Yet since the formation of the label, it has allowed Barnett to put out a selection of recordings and have some fun with it, aside from her main dedication of touring and recording seriously.

It has been announced that the label will put out a compilation called Good For You, their second one to follow up A Pair of Pears (With Shadows). The new compilation was recorded in a weekend in September last year and features tracks from Jen Cloher, Fraser A. Gorman, The Finks, among others.

For this release, Barnett has contributed ‘Three Packs A Day’. It’s a deceiving title at that; it’s not about cigarettes, it’s about her admiration for ramen. Lyrics are mostly the reason every music fan fell weak at the knees for Courtney Barnett’s descriptive yet sincere style, and while we get those themes in ‘Pedestrian at Best’ or ‘Depreston’, the lyrical ability is no different in this whimsical little number.
