FIERCELY
inventive and instrumental in the composition of many great bands that since have heeded their sterling example, Glasgow’s very own Mogwai never fail to impress.

With more projects than most bands would dare to put into action, the band recently undertook the task of scoring Atomic: Living In Dread And Promise, a recently aired BBC documentary which charts the history of nuclear power.

Examining both its destructive capabilities and its beneficial aspects, the band have unveiled the wonderful ‘U-235’ ahead of its official release.

Inundating the listener with a series of stirring and often forlorn synth lines, the post-rock pioneers manage to conjure ornate beauty and frightening uncertainty at the exact same time. Dramatic in scale to an extent which resides close to what  Brian Eno accomplished on his legendary Apollo LP, the track’s ever intensifying percussion work is in stark contrast to the ethereal nature of its dramatic swells and sense of looming danger.

Atomic will be released on the 1st April via their very own Rock Action imprint.
