BREAKING out from their reputation as a firmly respected underground band in order to climb up the ladder towards the peripheries of the mainstream Future Islands pulled off the near impossible feat of doing so without subverting from what made them such a special band.

Sparked by the arrival of their 2014 album Singles, the band were soon the toast of talk shows and selling out shows all over the world.

Re-energised after a hiatus from the studio, Future Islands have unveiled ‘I Ran’, the first track to be taken from their brand new album and an offering which picks up where they left off in the best way possible.

Anthemic to its very core, ‘I Ran’ is the epitome of exactly what the Baltimore based group do so well. Having honed their own brand of deeply emotive synth-pop into a fine art, Sam Herring’s guttural vocal melds perfectly with the ethereal backdrop and rousing bassline. While it’s immediately apparent that you’re listening to a new track from Future Islands, this is not in any formulaic sense due to the fact that this is a band at the peak of their powers rather than relying on old glories.

The band’s new record The Far Field will be released on the 7th April via 4AD. Check out the track and get all of the details of their upcoming tour below:
