LONDON musician J Churcher has released the first song of 2016 after signing to 37 Adventures, with a song called ‘Yesterday’ that continues his enigmatic theme of reminiscently 80’s synth rock.
‘Yesterday’ joins onto the triumvirate of tracks that have already been released by J Churcher – ‘In The Summer’ and ‘I Remember’ – accompanied by a grainy video directed by Perfume Genius of a girl dancing. The track has already gathered significant radio play, already being played on Lauren Laverne’s 6 Music show.
Jarvis Cocker vocals melded with Jesus and the Mary Chain tremolo guitar work, ‘Yesterday’ becomes this distinctively hypnotic three-minute journey that builds up to a climax that ends abruptly – like there is going to be some sort of epic continuation of this intriguing pop work.
