The artist: It’s hard to believe that despite being a household name on the UK music scene, and having two albums already under his belt, Jake Bugg is still only 20 years old. The Nottingham born singer-songwriter is back again with an EP called Messed Up Kids due out on the 12th May.

The sound: The new and titular track ‘Messed Up Kids’ starts with a snippet of an interview where Jake Bugg is asked if he was a messed up kid. The video then shows an assortment of different young people going about their daily lives, all crammed into a small area, with Bugg himself in the middle observing. The song’s lyrics talk about the hardship of growing up without much money, but ends with Bugg saying “above everything there should always be a little bit of hope”.

The lowdown:
He’s currently on a world tour that sees him play everywhere from Chile to Japan. He is also on festival duty this summer, playing T in the Park, Bonnaroo Music, as well as many others.
