LUCIA & The Best Boys have re-emerged with the release of a new single called ‘When You Dress Up’.

The new song marks her first release since ‘The State of Things’ EP in 2020, and launches am exciting new era for the artist. Taking her rock-inspired aesthetic into a hypnotic new space, she embraces a softer pop sound – while still retaining that monochrome glamour and twinkling charm.

From the very outset, ‘When You Dress Up’ indicates sonic and lyrical evolution. An exploration of womanhood in all its glory, there’s an empowering air to the tune and a growing sense of maturity. “I won’t let you waste my time. Don’t waste my time,” she sings in the opening verse.

Set against a gentle foundation of synths, percussion, and piano, her vocals are as powerful as ever – especially when the ambient instrumental makes way for the electric guitar and synth-filled climax.

Speaking about the track, she said: ““I’ve known since the first time we played ‘When You Dress Up’ in the studio that it was the first song I wanted people to hear for this turning point in my music.”

“This song resonates deeply with my values as a woman with its unapologetic, empowering energy. For me, this is an evolution from themes I have sung about in the past which underline the weight of the male gaze, and learning not to suppress our own identity for the sake of another person’s version of who we should be.’

The track’s accompanying video also arrives today. Created by Lucia and director Rianne White, it’s a love letter to embracing every version of ourselves.

Lucia & The Best Boys are preparing for a string of sold out shows at Glasgow’s Poetry Club and Omeara in London before they return to SWG3 in Glasgow.
