The band: Punk inspired four-piece Parquet Courts released their first album Light Up Gold in 2013 to critical acclaim. Now they are back and set to release a new album Sunbathing Animal, which is due out on the 2nd June.
The sound: The title track from the album, ‘Sunbathing Animal’ (listen below), is about as fast paced as it’s possible to go. Lead singer Andrew Savage sounds like he’s struggling to keep up at times, but that might just be the sound they’re going for. Light Up Gold proved the bands love for anarchic and disjointed sounds, and the new track certainly has that in abundance.
The lowdown: After the release of the new album they will be on a mini-tour around the country, including playing SWG3 in Glasgow on the 21st June, and Glastonbury Festival.
