QUICK first emerged in 2016 – performing at Celtic Connections and winning the Danny Kyle Open Stage 2016.

From then, they went onto play a number of local shows including Glasgow’s Royal Concert Hall,  headlining King Tuts Wah Wah Hut, the BBC’s Edinburgh Festival Fringe and Country to Country Festival. An EP in 2017 followed, as well as a number of singles in 2019 – but since then, the band have been quiet.

The self-described ‘newgrass’ band are now ready make a welcome return – and ‘Limonds Wynd’ marks the first preview of a new EP, ‘Paper Planes & Picture Frames’, out later this year via Holy Smokes Records.

While the track bears the hallmarks of their formative sound, it also sees them expand and push parameters – their traditional acoustic instrumentation paired with intimate harmonies and intricate melodies. Brimming with creativity and narrative flair, it’s a compelling return.

They say “The song is titled after a street in the town of Ayr, which was just round the corner from my home when I lived there. It is a hazy recollection of seedy, drink-fuelled memories of walking back home through Limonds Wynd in the wee hours of the morning. The lyrics are essentially the internal conflict between your better judgment and the intrusive thoughts that rear their head at the end of a long night of over-indulging.”
