WITH its official release date just over a month away, Unknown Mortal Orchestra have revealed the latest preview of their upcoming fourth studio LP Sex and Food.

‘Not In Love We’re Just High’ is a slinky, genre-defying track which is built upon a simple chord progression played on a wonky, off-kilter electric piano. While we are unable to make out much of the lyrics, frontman Ruban Nielson’s voice merges into the wobbly, hallucinogenic soundscape; as if drowned in a drug-induced haze.

Just as the title suggests, the track depicts a couple who realise they’re not quite as in love as they think they are; but as the steady beat intensifies, it seems that there is a cathartic liberation in this realisation.

The accompanying video is a strangely static visual experience which focuses on a pair of hands on the piano. As the track builds up though, it pans to an empty dancefloor followed by a final image of the piano in which the player is gone and there lies a spilled drink.
