WYLDEST has shared a stunning new single called ‘The Best is Yet to Come’.

Marking her first release since last year’s acclaimed ‘Monthly Friend’ album, the track finds her pushing her sound outwards, shifting away from the dream pop she made her name on and exploring new expansive and atmospheric soundscapes.

This shift is credited to her new writing partnership with Luciano Rossi (Idlewild, Dama Scout). After experiencing some writers block following the release of her album, the two aided each other in their songwriting and subsequently stumbled across a new freeing and transportive approach that has elevated her sound to new heights.

‘The Best is Yet to Come’ is the first insight into this journey – open with the singer herself and gentle guitar lines before building into something more cinematic, blissful and ethereal.

She comments: “This was written in the midst of isolation, friends and family were shuffling around moving away, changing. I chose to stay in the city, but could feel my world changing, disappearing in a way. However I suppose it was evolving into something different.”

“Like many people during 2020/21 I felt a little trapped within my own existence, being resistant to change and resentful that people close to me were moving away, doing what they felt they needed to.”

“‘The Best Is Yet To Come’ is about being hopeful that all the great things we had once are also mapped out in the future too, life is long and comes in multiple different chapters, it’s all part of the journey and we should never lose sight of the the present as things are constantly changing and evolving, so we can just sit back and enjoy the ride.”
