IT was late 2014 when Wolverhampton psych trio Yak shared their first song online and finally divulged to us mere mortals just why they were one of the most talked about acts behind the scenes in recent times. The lack of concrete information surrounding the band led to a muddying of waters between myth and reality, with online rumours on their past and current ranging from the strange to scarcely believable. One certainty which can be safely gleamed is that they know how to rock. Very loud.
Now the band share a new cut from their debut Plastic People EP which drops next month (25th May 2015) on Octupus Electrical/Fat Possum. A six minute psychedelic monster, the aptly named ‘Distortion’ sandwiches pensive verses between gritty wails of feedback and noise before building to a stomping crescendo. Think somewhere along the lines of Sparklehorse being channelled by MBV.
Catch their (probably) ear-splitting live show this Sunday at Live at Glasgow (30Th June 2015) when they play Broadcast at 8:30pm, with the remainder of their dates listed below.
