Young-Fathers-Rain-Or-ShineTHE BAND: Fresh from the most prosperous and highlight-filled year of their career, Edinburgh-based alt hip hop outfit Young Fathers look set to continue their run of good fortune. Constantly evolving their hypnotic and inclusive sound that draws influence from all manner of musical genres, the three piece have released ‘Rain Or Shine’, the first single to be taken from their follow up to the Mercury Prize winning Dead.

THE SOUND: Driven by mesmeric and disorienting organ, ‘Rain Or Shine’ delves further into the abstract instrumentation and structure that they explored on their previous album, with clattering percussion and gang chants producing an arresting quality. The vocals veer from impassioned singing to passive, spoken word verses whilst a motorik rhythm is maintained throughout its duration.

THE LOWDOWN: The track itself is available instantly upon pre-ordering their forthcoming album ‘White Men Are Black Too’ , set to be released on the 7th April 2015.
