carl-barat-album-coverTHE BAND: A musician and songwriter who has never shied away from constant and drastic reinvention via his numerous side projects and solo projects, Carl Barat has found himself undergoing a career renaissance  ver the past few years. Beginning with the reformation of his illustrious band The Libertines that has continued to take the world by storm, Barat has also found himself with a new vehicle in the shape of Carl Barat And The Jackals.  On the brink of releasing their debut album, they have unleashed the visuals for the revolution minded ‘A Storm Is Coming.’

THE SOUND: A brazen and confrontational rock and roll song in the classic mould, ‘A Storm Is Coming’ will undoubtedly please Barat’s fervent fanbase who’ve stuck by them throughout his many incarnations. led by an infectious riff and a prominent bass line, its lyrics simultaneously lament upon the perils of modern life and urge the proletariat to rise up.

THE VIDEO: Set among a production line in a dystopian society, Barat and his bandmates are forced to partake in  tedious labour whilst forced to watch propaganda. When a problem with the transmission occurs, they begin to revolt. Directed by frequent Libertines collaborator Roger Sargent, the video captures the central ethos of the track perfectly.

THE LOWDOWN:  ‘A Storm Is Coming’ is set for release on February 23rd via Cooking Vinyl, whilst the band’s debut album Let It Reign on which the track is included will emerge on the 16th.
