TENEMENT TV caught up with Dundee-based singer songwriter Be Charlotte as part of our latest interview series, ‘In Isolation With…’.

What’s the last thing the band said to each other in your Whatsapp group?

“My drummer Scotty said “That’s grim init” in response to me messaging with everything that has been cancelled.”

How do you feel about the current state of the world and the effect that it will have on Scottish music industry?

“This is a crazy and scary time for everyone around the world right now. As someone who feels anxious most days I can definitely say I’m feeling a little overwhelmed with it all at the moment and finding social media quite intense to look at. It’s very sad to feel like everything we’ve been working on has just came to a stop but this is the reality for so many people right now. Not just in terms of work but in terms of health…and we all need to come together to do our bit (from isolation) and take this seriously to protect our friends, families and strangers around the world. We are all human and we all deserve love and respect.

The Scottish music industry is so strong and filled with so many amazing people. It’s going to be tough but I know together we can pull through this.”

What 5 Scottish bands are on your isolation playlist?

“Ooooh….too many amazing Scottish artists to choose from but I’ll defo be adding….

VanIves, Zoe Graham, WuhOh, Joesef, Stephanie Cheape”

When the world gets back to normal, what’s the first thing you are going to do?

“Hug my friends and family, check in on the world , be grateful for each other and feel lucky that I still get to call my favourite thing to do a job.”

What’s next for the band? Still releasing new music / re-arranged tour dates etc etc?

“Everything is ready for my next single and EP release, it doesn’t feel right to be trying to force people to listen to my music right now but I hope you can see and hear all the new-ness very soon. I love playing live and can’t wait to get back to playing some shows soon. The most important thing just now is that we all stay safe and look out for each other.”
