circa waves get away tenement tvHAVING conquered every corner of the UK with their phenomenal debut album Young Chasers and becoming a permanent fixture on the airwaves, Liverpool’s Circa Waves have returned with an emboldened sound and even bigger ambitions.

Set to embark on a massive UK tour which features a date at Glasgow’s iconic Barrowlands, the band have released a striking new video for ‘Wake Up.’

Less the product of the sort of summer high jinx and late nights with friends that defined their first outing and more anarchic in nature, the track’s opening barrage of explosive, volatile riffs sets the tone for what’s to come. With discontentment rising to boiling points their chests, ‘Wake Up’ is more in line with bands such as Jimmy Eat World  and The Gaslight Anthem than it does with their indie contemporaries but that is certainly not a bad thing. Diversifying their sound and guiding it to a more unpredictable zone, it seems very much in line with frontman Kieran Shuddal’s recent declaration that ‘I’ve got a fire in my belly with this record.’

A video which mirrors the more sinister aspects of their evolving sound, it contains interspersed footage of the band tearing through the track in a bare room against scenes of squalor and hardship,

Their aptly named new album Different Creatures is set for release on the 10th March.
