NEXT month, Rina Sawayama releases her second album ‘Hold The Girl’.

We’ve heard a couple of tracks from it already – including the title track, ‘Catch Me In The Air’ and ‘This Hell – and our latest preview is the heartfelt ‘Phantom’.

Channelling ballad singers of the late 90s, Rina lays it all out, exploring her people-pleasing trait and how it leads to people taking advantage. Led by her beautiful vocal, it’s a huge power ballad that once again highlights her empathetic side.

She said “I realised as an adult that I have spent my whole life pleasing other people and not realising it – constantly pushing my boundaries and not realising the difference between what I wanted to do and what other people wanted from me. Through the lyrics in the verse I’m trying to tell this story and then in the choruses I’m morning the loss of my real self.”
