FRESH off the announcement of his signing to ATO Records, Australia’s Slow Dancer has shared a new cinematic accompaniment to his latest track ‘Don’t Believe’.

Inspired by the music of his childhood, the multi-talented Simon Okely gives the smooth soulful sounds of the 60s and 70s a modern revamp on the track with an alluring arrangement of soft guitars, warm synthesisers and laid-back rhythms. The result is an understated R&B tinged number over which Okely serenades a lover with his trademark seductive vocal tone.

The accompanying video has a retro sensibility that is in keeping with the track. Directed by Sam Brumby, it follows Okely and two women as they take in a number of nostalgic locations such as skate parks, disco balls and record stores.

A former guitarist with Melbourne band Oh Mercy, the solo artist is now making quite a name for himself under his new moniker and will make an appearance at this year’s SXSW. ‘Don’t Believe’ will be the first single from his as-yet-untitled album, said to be coming out later this year.
