Unknown Mortal Orchestra.

ECLECTIC quartet Unknown Mortal Orchestra have shared a funky new number laden with synths and a dark disco turn that is the group’s first song since their 2015 album Multi-Love.

The song begins with a big band before shaping into a Chic-inspired funk track that wouldn’t appear out of place on an 80’s Prince album. Singer Ruban Nielson exemplifies his magnificent vocal range with an effect-filled, distorted low-end vocal that branches out to a blistering falsetto.

“I think ‘First World Problem’ is about modern love in a crumbling empire,” said Nielson in a press release. “The feeling that you’re trying to build your life and get what you need while a decadent world falls apart around you.”

Unknown Mortal Orchestra are touring extensively around North America currently and have a few UK dates on their agenda, including two headline dates in Cambridge and Liverpool, and a slot at Glastonbury.
