WITH every major UK festival ticked off their list this summer, autumn 2014 will see Twin Atlantic headline a massive UK tour. The Glasgow band have crashed the scene with their world domination attitude and their new album Great Divide on Red Bull Records is full of those stadium rock tunes.

Produced by Jacknife Lee (U2,REM), and longtime collaborator Gil Norton (Pixies, Foo Fighters), Great Divide bursts with energy from start to finish. Opener ‘The Ones That I Love’ is gentle with harmonies and quite possibly the softest yet from Twin. Delivered on the very piano ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ was recorded on lyrics “Is there something in the water, or something in their favorite songs” match the tone of this track perfectly.

The first single to be taken from the release, ‘Heart and Soul’ has owned the airwaves all summer with its pulsating beat and catchy riff from start to finish and its in great company alongside the likes of ‘Fall into the Party’‘Brothers and Sisters’ with their great mix of Biffy Clyro, Snow Patrol and even AC/DC elements present in trophy riffs and catchy licks.

Recorded while on the road during a sold out tour, the album explores the challenges of this and bulges with the same passion the band outlay on stage. “90% of Great Divide was written in the back of the tour bus,” says lead singer Sam McTrusty. “Our adrenaline was through the roof because, for the first time, thousands of people had come to see us. You can’t hear 10,000 people singing a chorus back at you and not be changed by it.”

It’s ‘I Am An Animal’ that gives the biggest nod to fellow Scot rockers Biffy Clyro though, with the impossibly clever drum beat and aggressive tone from McTrusty. It sounds as if its been lifted straight off of Opposites with the repetitive riff much alike ‘Victory Over The Sun’.

Twin Atlantic pack the punch and deliver the energy created in the studio, effortlessly on stage. “I want to be an original” goes ‘Globalisolation’, looks like they’ve done just that with Great Divide.
