SERVING up a scrumptious slice of synth-pop with their debut album release is Glasgow’s CHVRCHES with The Bones of What You Believe.

Eagerly anticipated and put on the highest pedestal by the critics, the band’s release comes at a perfect time for Scottish music, and indeed the electronic music scene.

Dishing out tracks into the mainstream, like hit The Mother We Share; the three piece have proved just why they are such hot property. After bagging The BBC’s Sound of 2013 top spot in the poll, the band have managed to remain strong in the spotlight.

The album is synthy with pop dominating its sound throughout- though its tracks like Tether which show CHVRCHES as utterly dynamic and so very 2013.

That said, 80’s melodies and hooks fabricate tracks like Recover and Lungs, whereas Silence / Visions has 1990’s rave engraved into its sweaty soul.

Singer Lauren Mayberry’s delicately girly vocals are charming throughout the record, Strong Hand shows Mayberry as a strong and versatile vocalist as she has a go at the powerful track.

The gem of the album though, has to be We Were Promised Jetpacks remix of The Mother We Share- transforming the full-bodied track into a miraculous spectacle of beats, synths and echoes that speaks to your heart.

This debut release from CHVRCHES is very much a case of, you must absolutely believe the hype.
