KASABIAN have proven their creativity knows no limits with album number five. At 48:13 in length it borrows its name from the duration with Sergio Pizzorno speaking of the LP saying: “We had the confidence to be more direct, more honest. I started to strip away layers rather than to just keep adding.”

Opening with ‘Shiva’, a buzz of static and trickles of synth rise into a 70 second opener that sets the tone for the 12 proceeding tracks.

‘Bumblebee’ is an early injection of pounding drums and addictive chants. Groovy, complete with Led Zeppelin riffs. With its aggressive guitar solo, this has gig opener all over it.

Tracks like the trippy, moody ‘Explodes’ does exactly that to your eardrums. A pummel of beats, synths and bass carry us into one of the impressive tracks on the record.

‘Clouds’ makes us wait for it, but good things come to those who do as it brings us floating right back to the start with the well-known Kasabian stomp half way in. Channeling vintage Kasabian circa 2004, this track is jaggy, melodic and with that aggressive hook brought in at the chorus, its guaranteed to get the crowd bouncing each and every time.

Simplistic in theme, ‘Eez-eh’ talks us through the current ‘brutal’ times. Mixed with a funky Madness-esque melody and rave beat, this short and snappy track is an absolute belter, getting for repeat.

There’s spanish guitars, Led Zep, Madness and rave; 48:13 is another impossibly brilliant LP that is a creative snapshot of the band in 2014. With tracks that are sure to bring their Glastonbury headline set to a whole other level, all that’s left is for Kasabian to take a bow.
